Isabel had always admired her friend Justine.
They had met at work, both starting off as junior administration officers together, but now their worlds seemed so far apart.
Isabel had continued in her employment, becoming a senior administration officer, mentoring junior staff. Whereas Justine had gone off to pursue her idea of scented, healing candles with crystals and was loving it.
Justine had always been full of good ideas, even at her office job, talking and sharing how things could be improved, about what she wanted to do, and finally having the courage to take the leap of faith and pursue her dream.
On the other hand, Isabel felt she was not destined for great things or great ideas. She believed that all the good ideas had been taken and lived her story of “I don’t have any good ideas”.
Ideas are the beginning of innovation. They fuel progress, drive change, and have the power to reshape the world.
However, having good ideas are not reserved for only special people. They come to those who cultivate their minds to think in new ways and are curious about the world.
As curiosity is the spark behind every good idea and is the foundation of creativity. Curiosity ignites and initiates the process of discovery by asking questions and seeking answers.
Being curious shifts our mindset, so that we can become explorers, innovators, and creators. It asks us to move beyond what is known and to venture into the realm of possibilities.
So, this week’s challenge is to cultivate a desire to learn and know more about something.
It takes time and intention to be curious.
Perhaps you could read a book in a genre you don’t normally read or go for a walk around a new park and explore the sights and sounds. Or it could be journalling to self-reflect. Ask yourself questions and seek answers.
Get into the habit of asking questions, learning new things, reading books, and expanding your creativity.
Sustaining high levels of curiosity is the starting point of creativity, and creativity leads to great ideas.
It is the thinkers, the dreamers, the explorers of ideas that will change the world, and you can be part of that.
So, change the world with your ideas.
Forever creating,
Deborah Ruth
